Exercise is a good thing for this breed. Many people love to carry these dogs around, but walking is much better for them instead. When walking them, try to use a body harness instead of the normal collar. This helps them when walking.

When having a short haired Chihuahua a simple brush once a week will be fine. Then you can also take a damp cloth and wipe them down to get dirt off them. The long hair Chihuahua should be brushed on regular basis to keep their fur unmated. You can give both types of Chihuahua’s a bath once a month. Make sure to keep their nails trimmed and check their ears regularly. This breed is also known to be a shedder as well.
